At Fern&Moody Salon, we know that hair has no gender.

We help queer (& all) folks get the hair that they want, while avoiding the discomfort and lack of inclusiveness found in traditional salons.

Founded by Francesca and Jackie in early 2021.

Fern&Moody began as a single-chair studio and evolved into a four-chair salon rooted in artistry and belonging.

Every detail of the space reflects the intention to make people feel seen, safe and confident in their own style.

In July 2025, Fern&Moody moved into its current home on Fullerton Ave. With the move to a larger space, we knew it was time to grow our team. Cameron and Abby joined shortly after the expansion and immediately felt like a part of Fern&Moody.

Cameron, one of Jackie’s former barber students, brings skill, creativity and chill vibes behind the chair. Abby, Francesca’s assistant and recent cosmetology graduate, adds fresh energy and curiosity to the salon every day.

  • "Jackie is the only barber I trust with my hair. I'm surrounded by salons in my neighborhood but the 40-minute commute is worth it for me. I can go in with the vaguest request, not able to fully articulate what I want, and they somehow are always able to give me the perfect haircut. The grow out even looks great. "

  • "I got a great haircut from Jackie yesterday and i'm so thankful to find somebody in chicago who can cut my hair well. their space was really easy to get to and I appreciate they are still requiring masks. I would def recommend."

  • "Extremely talented, affirming, queer-friendly duo."
