Hair has no gender

Short hair | Mullets | Color | Weddings

Hi! Nice to meet you.

I’m Jackie — the Moody half of Fern & Moody Salon.

I am a queer, nonbinary barber with 13 years experience in cosmetology and barbering.

I thrive doing short hair — anything from a classic fade to a funky mullet. Gender affirming transformations give me life! There is nothing more satisfying than helping someone feel more at home in their own skin.

If I’m not at the salon, you can find me playing roller derby with Chicago-Style Roller Derby or at home, snuggled up with my dog (and whatever foster animal I have at the moment), reading a book or crafting.

“The first time Jackie cut my hair, I knew they were the perfect stylist for me. From fade to mullet, yellow to ashy blond, Jackie can do it all. They are a great communicator, and I always feel clued into what the plan is for tackling my funky hair projects. There is no one else I’ve found that understands my hair like Jackie.”

“From highlights to undercuts to the most incredible fades, Jackie has done it all for me. Deciding to cut my hair short for the first time was initially scary, but I trusted Jackie to work their magic. I’ve never felt more confident and comfortable with the way I look. Jackie is an extremely talented barber and I’d recommend them in a heartbeat.”
